Ed Kauffman is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner, Vancouver Direct Primary Care practice owner, and seasoned healthcare professional who has dedicated his career to transforming how primary care is delivered and experienced.
With more than a decade of clinical experience managing complex acute care and chronic diseases across multiple states, Ed brings a deep understanding of patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and the practical realities of running a DPC practice.
Ed earned his Master of Science in Nursing and is board certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (AGACNP-BC). He is licensed to practice in both Washington and Oregon, and has spent years advocating for care that prioritizes the individual patient.
In 2021, Ed founded Vancouver Direct Primary Care with a clear vision: to create a primary care experience that truly puts patients first. Frustrated by a healthcare system that often feels rushed and impersonal, Ed was drawn to the Direct Primary Care model because it strips away unnecessary barriers and allows physicians to practice medicine as it was intended - with time, attention, and personalized care for every patient.
This commitment to quality and accessibility is what continues to drive Ed's work as both a clinician and practice owner.
"Direct Primary Care strips away unnecessary barriers and allows physicians to practice medicine as it was intended - with time, attention, and personalized care for every patient."
Ed's journey from clinician to healthcare innovator led him to partner with MarketSnare in co-founding MedFreedom - a dedicated web development and marketing platform built exclusively for Direct Primary Care practices. His mission with MedFreedom is twofold:
Grounded in data, clinical insight, and an intimate understanding of the DPC model, Ed's leadership ensures that MedFreedom's strategies are not only effective - they align with what matters most to physicians and patients alike: credibility, trust, and meaningful connection.
Outside of healthcare and entrepreneurship, Ed enjoys singing and playing guitar at open mics, hiking in the Pacific Northwest's breathtaking landscapes, and exploring vegetarian cooking. These creative and active pursuits reflect Ed's belief in balance - in life and in care.
